I subscribed to VERITAS via PayPalbut never received my login. Why?

There are a few reasons why you may not have received your VERITAS login:

1. You subscribed with an e-mail other than the one you are using. This is the most common reason. Many new members forget that they have an old address listed as their primary e-mail with PayPal. Make sure you check the inbox for that e-mail as all logins are sent to that e-mail immediately after you subscribe. If your primary e-mail address with PayPal is an e-mail you longer use, you have to change that e-mail first before contacting us as we cannot change your e-mail unless you make the change with PayPal first. The PayPal e-mail must match with our database or PayPal will cancel your subscription.

2. The login landed in your spam folder. Make sure you check the spam folder as sometimes your ISP or e-mail provider may be blocking your e-mail.

Please note that for security reasons we cannot send logins to an e-mail address other than the one used with PayPal. Also, when you write to us, we need you to write from the e-mail used with PayPal or include that e-mail in the body of your message or we will not be able to find your subscription.


My subscription payment was failing with PayPal so I re-subscribed. Then PayPal canceled my old subscription and now I'm blocked. Why?

If your subscription payment is failing with PayPal, you may want to cancel that subscription and then re-subscribe.  If you do not cancel the existing subscription and re-subscribe, PayPal will cancel the old subscription. Since we only store one e-mail address, PayPal will note any subscription with that e-mail address as canceled. That is why it is important to cancel first and then re-subscribe.


I just found out my Veritas subscription was canceled. Why?

We do not keep records of your financial information and do not control subscriptions or cancellations. That is between you and PayPal. Please do not write to us asking why your subscription was cancelled or why your payment is failing. We simply do not know.  You have to contact PayPal. 99.9% of the time, your subscription is cancelled because your renewal payment did not go through. Mostly, this is caused due to your credit card being expired. It is very important to always keep your financial information with PayPal up to date. You can simply re-subscribe here.


It seems that I have to log in quite frequently. Why?

After I log in I proceed to segment 1. Then when I go to segment 2 the system prompts me to log in again. The only reason why this would be happening is if your browser is not accepting cookies. You need to make sure your browser has cookies enabled so that you are not required to log in that frequently. This can also be a browser issue on your side. You may want to try a different browser. Also, if you are using an RSS or iTunes feed, the files are stored in a different server which will require you to sign in again. You can always prompt your browser to remember the login.


What is the difference between a recurring and a non-recurring subscription.

A recurring subscription renews automatically every three (3) months and is discounted 25% ($23.97 per quarter). Why is it discounted? Because we want to reward you for your long term loyalty. The non-recurring subscription does not renew automatically but it's also not discounted ($32 per quarter). The tradeoff between these two subscription types is that if you cancel a recurring/discounted subscription access to our system stops immediately. The non-recurring subscription simply expires and you would have to re-subscribe.


I just purchased a subscription and immediately canceled because I did not want my subscription to be renewed automatically. Why am I blocked?

You were informed of this when you subscribed. Perhaps you inadvertently missed it. This is also clearly stated in our terms and conditions. Recurring/discounted subscriptions, when cancelled, lose access regardless of how long you have left. If you do not wish for your subscription to be automatically renewed, then choose a non-renewing subscription ($32 for three (3) months; $56 for six (6) months; $80 for nine (9) months; $104 for one year, and $199 for two years). Recurring subscriptions are the most discounted ($23.97) and are intended for those who wish to stay with VERITAS on a long term basis. You are receiving a 25% discount or one month free for each $23.97 (or four months if you annualize it). The tradeoff for the discount is that if you cancel, access to all our systems will cease. We would suggest that if you have a discounted/recurring subscription and intend to cancel that you wait until before your subscription is ready to renew. That way you can listen to any of our hundreds of shows (past, present or future). If you have not subscribed and are intending to cancel choose a non-discounted/non-recurring subscription. Subscribe only if you wish to stay on board on a long term basis and are cognizant that if you cancel access will cease. Click here to choose a subscription type.


My subscription was canceled and I lost my grandfathered rate. If I renew, can I get my grandfathered rate back?

Unfortunately, no. Grandfathered rates only remain with active subscriptions. If your subscription is canceled (for whatever reason), your grandfathered rate will no longer apply. There is nothing we can do about it as our new code prevents the creation of new subscriptions with the old rate. The grandfathered rate is a way for us to reward you for your loyalty. We will continue offering the grandfathered rate as long as your subscription is active and financial conditions allow it. Make sure you always check your financial information with PayPal to make sure it is up to date. In most instances, an expired credit card triggers a subscription to be cancelled. Even if PayPal cancels your subscription (for whatever reason), we have no way of bringing back a grandfathered rate. We spend large sums of money upgrading our code every so often and once the new code is in place with the new rates, we have absolutely no way of reinstating an old rate. Please, do not write to us asking if you can get your old rate back. There is absolutely nothing we can do.

I cannot log in to VERITAS. Why?

There are a few reasons why you may not be able to log in:

1. If your subscription is active, you must be mistyping a character. Remember, your login is case sensitive. The same applies for RSS feeds via iTunes/Android. If your subscription is active you are either mistyping a character (case sensitive) or your browser does not have cookies enabled. Make sure you are carefully typing each character and observing lower case and upper case characters.

2. You or PayPal canceled your discounted subscription. Discounted subscriptions lose access when canceled. That is why you receive a 25% discount vs. the regular non-renewing subscription price. Check your e-mail or your PayPal history. PayPal sent you an e-mail with your cancellation. We cannot reinstate a canceled subscription. You can re-subscribe here.

3. Your PayPal renewal payment is failing. If this is the case, PayPal has or will notify you up to three times. Once you are notified that your payment failed you must go to PayPal and update your financial information. If after the third attempt you have not updated your financial information they will cancel your subscription. Don't wait until the subscription is canceled as you may have a grandfathered rate, which cannot be reinstated. If your subscription is failing and you don't want to wait until the next attempt to log back in, then cancel your subscription and re-subscribe. It is very important that you cancel first before re-subscribing. If you subscribe only, when PayPal cancels the old subscription, they will block access to your new subscription too. You can re-subscribe here.

4. You forgot your password and are mistyping it. We do not have access to passwords. Proceed to the login page and click on the "Lost Your Password" link, enter your e-mail address/username, and your password will be e-mailed to you to the e-mail address on file (your username).

5. You changed your primary e-mail with PayPal and did not notify us. When PayPal received their renewal payment they were not able to find a matching e-mail in our database. Please make sure you notify us when you change your PayPal e-mail to avoid service interruption. E-mail us with the new e-mail as it appears on PayPal so that we can verify payment and reinstate your account.

6. You had a subscription and the payment was failing. Instead of canceling the subscription, you re-subscribed, then when PayPal attempted to charge the older subscription and could not, it canceled it. Since we only show one e-mail per subscription, PayPal will come to our database and note your account as cancelled, even though you have a new active subscription. Then when you try to log in with your new credentials you will not be able to do so. We will have to manually reinstate the account as PayPal will change its status to canceled. Please make sure that you always cancel an existing subscription before you subscribe again.

7. You cancelled a discounted/recurring subscription. As stated in another FAQ, once a recurring/discounted subscription is canceled you lose access immediately. That is the tradeoff between the regular subscription ($32) and the discounted subscription ($23.97). That is why we offer a 25% discount to those who want to say long term. You can re-subscribe or you can send $8 via PayPal using the e-mail sales@manticore.com to convert your subscription to a non-recurring subscription.

We cannot change your Veritas username/e-mail until you change your PayPal primary e-mail address first or PayPal will cancel your subscription as they have to match.

Change your PayPal primary e-mail first and then contact us and we will change your Veritas username/e-mail. If you change it first without notifying us you will not be able to access our system after the next renewal payment as PayPal will not find a matching e-mail and will note your subscription as expired in our database. To avoid service interruption always notify us when you change your PayPal primary e-mail address..


Can I change my VERITAS password?

Passwords are assigned by PayPal and we do not have the ability to change them at this time. If you cannot activate your computer's function that remembers your login, we recommend a Web site that allows your computer to remember all of your passwords securely:  http://www.lastpass.com


Although I receive the newsletter stating a new show is up, I don't see it on the Web site. Why?

Clearing cache memory

To ensure you see the latest version of a site you need to clear the cache memory. This is done by doing a force refresh by pressing both control and F5 buttons simultaneously on your keyboard (depending on your browser). Most times a simple force cache refresh won't work and you need to clear the cache by hand. On this site you can find step by step guides for Chrome, Firefox 3, Firefox 2, Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 6, Safari and more on how to refresh your cache.

Internet Service Provider Cache

In the same way that your web browser has a cache of recent web pages, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may be doing some caching on your behalf.

In some (rare) cases, even though you are using shift-refresh to get new data from a webpage, the pages still seem to be old. This may be because your Internet Service Provider also has a cache and their cache may not be set up quite right, and they are not downloading the latest web pages.

When you encounter this problem you will have to communicate with your ISP to fix this problem.


Can you tell me who plays the bumper music on each show?

All bumper music artists are highlighted inside each show. Proceed to the PAST SHOWS link and you will find the respective information (song name and author) on the upper rights of each guest page. We strongly encourage our listeners to support the artists who lend their material to VERITAS. They definitely complement the mood of our show and deserve your recognition and support.


How do I know which guest is coming up next?

We no longer announce upcoming interviews. Visit our Web site every Thursday and a new interview will be posted @ 7:00 Pacific / 10:00 PM Eastern. Make sure you refresh your browser as your cache may not have updated.


How do I cancel my subscription?

We do not control subscriptions or cancellations. That is between you and PayPal. To cancel your subscription go to PayPal and click on the HISTORY section to find your subscription. You can cancel at any time there, but please remember, if you have a recurring/discounted subscription, access to our system ceases the moment you cancel, regardless of how much time you have left in your subscription. Also, if you have a grandfathered rate, the rate will not be available to you in the future (no exceptions) if and when you re-subscribe. If you still want to cancel, we would strongly suggest that you wait until before the renewal date approaches so that you can still enjoy all the subscription without being blocked.


I don't have a PayPal account or I do not want to use PayPal. Do you have an alternative payment option for me?

You do not have to have a PayPal account to purchase a subscription. However, you cannot buy a recurring/discounted subscription, as this is only done via PayPal. If you still wish to pay with a credit card, click on the SUBSCRIBE link and then click on the ALTERNATIVE PAYMENT METHOD link. You will find a few options, including Google Wallet (formerly Google Checkout) or cash payment via mail.


Do your guests get paid for appearing on the show?

Absolutely not. We sustain our ongoing production with your voluntary subscriptions only. There is absolutely no financial exchange between us and our interviewees.


How can you produce your show without commercials or sponsors?

You make it happen! We sustain our ongoing production with your voluntary subscriptions only. However, we would not do it any other way. The fact that our shows are commercial- and censorship-free allows the guests to speak freely. We encourage everyone to compare the difference between our program and others with commercials. Even if you listen to the "after-the-fact" version or paid subscription version, most programs are not commercial-free, and even when commercials are removed from the paid subscription version, the interruptions will still exist and the information will not flow the same way. That is why your support is so important. Mainstream media is sponsored/financed by large corporations. We are not. Veritas is truly independent, unbiased, and censorship-free. Remember Consumer Reports? That is your guarantee that the information you will receive by listening to VERITAS is pure and unfiltered. VERITAS is a listener-driven show (not sponsor-driven). You make it happen!


How can I get a free subscription?

At this time we are not offering any free subscriptions. It takes us countless hours and resources to produce Veritas every week. However, if in lieu of currency you can offer anything that may be of value to our production efforts, we would entertain it. Picture it as an exchange of energy. Can I download the shows and take with me and listen with my audio player?

Of course you can. Choose to download via iTunes or your favorite audio software. Initially, you will land where the first segment is. Right click on the DOWNLOAD button and download. To listen to segment two, click on where it says SEGMENT 2 >>. You will land where SEGMENT 2 is. Repeat the process for other programs.


I'm not in front of my computer all the time. Can I automate my downloads through my iPhone/iPad/Android device?

We got you covered. We now offer every single show via the RSS feed. This feature is only available to our members. We offer RSS feeds that you can load into your iPhone/iPad or Android device by visit the RSS Feed link.


Your files are extremely large and I have a slow connection. Any suggestions?

Yes, indeed. Our files are large because it is a priority to offer the best audio quality possible (128 kbps / CD audio quality). Hardly any other show makes this available to you. That said, we understand that some listeners have a slow internet connection or low space on their hard drives. Inside each program's page you will find a "Low-Fi" version, which is a compressed, much smaller version of the files. Bear in mind, the sound quality will not be the same. You can also purchase our futuristic 8GB metal cased USB drivers with each available season (plus bonus material) by visiting the Veritas Store.


Do you offer CDs for each show? 

Unfortunately, we do not. However, we offer a futuristic 8GB metal cased USB drive containing each season per USB drive. Every year, the preceding season will be available at the beginning of the year. We know that as Veritas grows, many new subscribers will want to download our programs but do not have the time, bandwidth or space in their computers. This is the most feasible alternative. Do you offer transcripts?

We offer transcripts for a number of shows. Unfortunately, since Veritas is growing, we do not have designated staff and depend on qualified listeners who transcribe. Visit the RADIO section and you will see a caption "Transcript Available" when it is. The price is $5.50 for Veritas Members and $11.00 for non-members.

 


How can I listen to you via terrestrial or satellite radio?

Unfortunately, our experience with terrestrial radio was not positive. They have forced us to edit our content and want to fill the space with commercials. We do not oppose to the latter, but strongly oppose to censorship. We are exploring the possibility of pursuing satellite radio. Stay tuned!


Why do you charge for your show when others do not?

Just because you are listening to other shows for free does not mean they are free. How do you mean, you ask?  You are paying with your time. A radio show must survive financially in order to exist, unless it is funded. There are products and services that need to be paid in order for a show like ours to remain on the air. You will, more than likely, be flooded with commercials every few minutes and, when you add the actual time you are listening to a guest, you will realize it was much less than you expected. Also, a show with commercials is, more than likely, censored and advised not to discuss topics that may the sponsors' revenue stream. We have the same model as Consumer Reports magazine. The latter operates by consumers purchasing an unbiased magazine. We survive from your voluntary subscriptions only. We are not sponsored-driven (censored); we are listener-driven (uncensored). We are certain you prefer it this way. Plus, even if you listen to another program that removes the commercials, the information flow will not be there. When a guest is not confronted with countless interruptions, the guest will not open up as much as here. Listen to any of our interviews and then listen others. The essence of information will not be the same. We are truly independent, commercial- and censorship-free.


Are you going to produce shows in Spanish?

That is definitely in the works. We are working on logistics and scheduling at the present time.


How can I spread the word about VERITAS?

Sorry, but no. That would be the equivalent of buying a book, copying it, and sharing it with everyone. The author spends countless hours producing a book. Mel, I would like to start an online radio show. Can you give me some advice on how to do so? 

This has become a very popular question and it is a compliment to me that anyone would ask me for advice since I do not have any experience in journalism or broadcasting. I am simply a member of the audience with an over-developed sense of wonder and the privilege to be holding a microphone. I remember listening to Coast to Coast AM for years and others. Perhaps, it all occurred via osmosis. My humble advice is for you to follow your passion. Focus on the topics that you enjoy and want to learn more. With time, more areas of interest will surface. Remember the law of attraction. Do what you love and you will never work another day. With the affordable technology at our disposal today, you can have an international audience in no time. All you need is a lot of passion and dedication!

Very simple: Variety is the spice of life!  If you look at the first season, most shows were UFO-related. However, although the UFO/ET topic is Mel's favorite area, he understands there are many other important areas to explore. As you will find in the ABOUT page, Mel has an over-developed sense of wonder. There are not enough hours in a day for him and his research. Mel considers himself an expert in nothing and an eternal student. We leave the expertise to our guests. Our job is to one day learn the most about the 'Big Picture'. You can only do that by exploring as many areas as possible.


You had XYZ on your show. Do you believe what he/she says? 

Mel has statd this many times. He does not believe anyone. We either know or do not know. To believe is to take something at face value without any evidence. Yes, there are many guests who cannot corroborate their claims, as is the example of most guests who discuss the UFO/ET phenomenon. But just because they cannot prove their claim does not mean we will not discuss their research/work/experiences. We respect everyone's beliefs and simply report. By having a guest on our show does not mean that we agree, disagree, or endorse such guest. We are simply presenting the information for your consideration. It is up to you to conduct further investigation with discernment. Why don’t we believe in this or that?  No, no, no, why do YOU believe in this or that? Surely the burden of proof is on the believer. Remember our motto: Be skeptical but don't close your mind.
