Tony Ortega, executive editor of The Raw Story, covered for Jamie DeWolf, the
great grandson of
L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Church of Scientology. DeWolf was
involved in a car accident and was not able to participate. Nonetheless,
Ortega did a magnificent job takingus deep inside Scientology; its beginnings, phases, and where it stands
today. This is a fascinating interview for anyone who wants to understand
Scientology. Its founder was also responsible in writing the necessary
protocols to address dissent inside and outside the organization.

Tony Ortega is the executive editor of The Raw Story (RawStory.com, @RawStory), and was formerly the editor of The Village Voice. He has written about Scientology since 1995. He’s currently working on a book about the church, and while he toils away on it he continues to monitor breaking developments around the world from an undisclosed location in an underground bunker he shares with four cats and one of them wrinkly Shar Pei dogs. Ortega is working with London-based literary agent and publisher Humfrey Hunter on a book about the controversial aspects of Scientology. Hunter told Capital, an online newspaper, "It will be one of the great books about Scientology and I fully expect all the big New York publishers to be after it.
